21st - 22nd
It took us two days to get to the Whitsundays from Hervey Bay breaking the journey up for one night in Rockhampton. Unfortunately there is little to note from this journey other than a few dead roos at the side of the road and the fact that we crossed the Tropic of Capricorn line and are now officially in Croc country!!
23rd
Today we went on a catarmaran boat cruise around Whitsunday Islands. Fantastic scenery spoilt only by rubbish weather. We are in the tropical rainy season here and although the days are humid and hot there is alot of rain.
Apart from the rain we had a really good day, the highlight for me was all of the views, for Michelle however it was the never ending free food and the free bar!!
Michelle did some snorkeling off a reef near Hook Island, very brave I was too much of a wuss to give it a go even though they did give out stinger suits.... maybe I'll try further up the great barrier reef in Cairns! She said the fish were just amazing so many tropical angel fish and butterfly fish, I was a little jealous so maybe I can get over my fear of sharks and stingers next time!
We went to Whitehaven Beach which was just gorgeous, although these pics prob don't do it justice due to the sheer amount of torrential rain we experienced whilst sitting on it:
