Today we bought a train ticket to allow us to explore further afield in the area.
First stop Wentworth Falls where we did another Bush Walk to the falls, again I imagine in winter these may be more impressive, but nice non the less:
At he picnic area at the top of the falls I headed to the wheelie bin to dispose of some rubbish only to be stopped in my tracks as a hunstman the size of my hand was on the wall above the lid. I thought this was something Michelle would like to see so I went and got her and quite bravely she tried to put the rubbish in the bin. The second she lifted the lid this thing moved faster than Usain Bolt up the wall and at the same time we screamed and ran away!! This fella really did make Harry look like a baby!
Next stop was Blackheath a nice little village further north in the mountains, we had a leisurely strole here and a spot of lunch before heading to Leura. They call Leura the garden village because so many of the houses are old Federation buildings which were famous for their attempts at creating English country gardens in the heart of Oz!
The village centre was quaint, but we were suprised at the amount of golliwogs on sale here and not old antique ones, these were all new and handmade locally - who is actually buying these?
Final stop was the pub for a swift schooner (or 2/3 of a pint - perfect measure) before heading back to Katoomba.
