Hudson:
Friday - Spent most of the day hopping on and off the Bondi Explorer which took us all around the coast line and lovely bays around the city. We walked from Bondi to Bronte beach taking in the great scenery along the way. We'd had pretty low expectations for Bondi and thought it may be a bit rough but it seemed really nice. Settled further down the coast at the quieter Coogee beach for a spot of sunbathing and swimming (yes we braved the swimming but made sure we were never the furthest out as in my scewed logic that feels safer!).
Went over to the Rocks area in the evening as there was a night market on. It was a bit more middle class than the Melbourne one somehow, but couldn't beat the magical setting. Had a wander down to Harbour for some night time pics of the bridge and opera house over a lovely bottle of wine - all very romantic!
Saturday
After the rubbishness of Ocean world at Manly this morning was 'take 2' at the Sydney Aquarium. Fortunately this was more like it and we had a great couple of hours there.
After this we had a nice walk through the Botanic Gardens. The highlight was finding the area where the city's large bat population roost! They are much bigger than bats I've seen anywhere else and pretty impressive. Don't know about nocturnal though, they were making a racket and clearly wide awake!
We got lucky with our timings as Saturday was the first night of the Sydney festival - a three week long arts and culture festival. They closed off loads of roads in the Central Business District and there were cool venues and stuff going on all over even better it was all free! We were walking along one street and 100 saxophone players started playing from the balcony of a building - random in itself but things got weirder. Seemingly out of nowhere this big bagpipe band came marching down and they had a bit of a face off - each playing a little bit trying to out do the other, culminating in them joining forces to play Scotland The Brave like a big global orchestra of love ha ha! I know it was all set up but it was cool all the same. Saw load of other stuff, lazer show, acrobats, groups etc. Al Green (sorry The Reverand Al Green) was the main act so we watched a bit of him - basically we waited till he did 'Let's Stick Together' and then left as that was the only song of his we knew other than the 'moonlighting' theme tune! All in all a very enjoyable finale to our stay in Sydney. My only worry is that it's such a great place nowhere else will come close but I know that's the wrong attitude!
