Sunday 15th November - More sightseeing

Hudson:
A cram packed day of sightseeing started at 8.30am.  We were keen to rest our feet so made the most of the final day of our travel pass.

We started out at Castro as I wanted to get a pic of the theatre which is a good example of the Mediterranean Revival Style.

Then had a short walk down to the mission district this is home to Mission Dolores Basillica which is the city's oldest building, parts of it date back to 1791.

The district is also famous for it's murals.

Handley:
Although the buildings were beautiful we made sure we missed out streets 14 - 19 as the guide book advised this was "Gangland" territory!!

Hudson:
Back on the bus we headed down to Japan Town.  There's not alot to it, but we enjoyed mouching about some of the shops, including one which seemed to be entirely devoted to Hello Kitty.  Anyone else think that Michelle looks like Chococat:

Next stop was Pacific Heights otherwise known as the Millionaires Ghetto, the houses were magnificent and I went a little photo crazy.

Also went past Perry's bar where Brian's character in the Tales of the City books worked!

The the "must do" for any visit to San Fran a trip on the historic trams.  They only run along 2 roads and are pretty much for tourists, but has to be done!  Cue very unflattering photographs:

Jumped off the tram to take a look at Grace Cathedral, pretty ugly from the outside, but much nicer interior.  Like Perry's the only reason we wanted to see this was because of Tales of the City and the Rose Window significant in one of the books.  Don't worry Alexis no sign of any ghoulish activities!

After this had a nice wander through China Town, but by this time hunger pangs and aches were starting to kick in so we probably didn't fully appreciate it.

Both now suffering so heading over to Castro tonight for dinner for minimum walking.
