After our trip to the reef on Monday we had fancied doing a flight over it to try and get a better view as you can't really appreciate it when you're parked up next to it on a boat.
Off to the airstrip we went, we had a safety breifing and I had that awful job of being sat next to the emergency exit so everybodies life was in my hands should the worst happen. The plane was dead small only holding 9 people.... think flying doctors!
We lined up for take off and hurtled down the runway and started to leave the ground when without warning we came back down to earth with a bit of a jolt. We had headphones on so we could hear the pilot and air traffic control and we heard "abort, abort!"
I figured we would just go round and try again, but as it happened our plane had experienced a technical failure, the fuel pump had failed.
Back at the hanger and our pilot looked a bit grey and he explained that it was a serious problem and we wouldn't be flying today, he also added that we were very lucky as an issue like that when airbourne would probably have meant an emergency "crash" landing!!
We were pleased that nothing too serious had happened and I was pleased that the failure happened on take off rather than over the reef especially as I would have had to use th emergency door!! However we were also a bit gutted that we were missing the flight..... with this and the heli hike in NZ being cancelled we were figuring we were cursed with scenic flights!
Luckily we were able to transfer over to a helicopter flight. It was brilliant and the reef is truly magnificent and we've only really seen just a small stretch of it.
It was good to end our last day in Oz on a high, next stop Bangkok.

Just got back from a meal out and we have to mention that we have just met Peter Andre's family!!! Three of his brothers run a Greek restaurant in Cairns!
We quite randomly picked the place to go and the manager AndrewAndre gave us a big welcome and just slipped into the conversation that he was Peter's brother and then pointed out the other brothers. They seemed like a lovely family and Peter's brothers look alot like him just minus the muscles and hair :o)
We didn't ask anything about Katie/Jordon incase anyone was wondering, but it made our night it was totally INSANIA!!
